Our principal, Mr. Mark Daly, was interviewed by Al Jazeera Media Network on the recent Hong Kong national security trial involving 47 opposition figures for their organization and participation in democratic primaries in 2020.
Mr. Daly notes that while it is common to conduct such democratic primaries overseas, such “normal democratic process” has “now been criminalized by this law”. Serious concerns have been expressed by the UN Human Rights Committee in relation to how the National Security Law “prevails over other local laws in case of conflicts and consequently overrides fundamental rights and freedoms” protected by the ICCPR.
