In a recent Ming Pao interview, our principal, Mark Daly, shared his views on Hong Kong’s proposed same-sex partnership bill. While acknowledging that legislative rejection of the bill would not affect the rule of law and the separation of powers, he warned of potential harm to the city’s standing on human rights.
Mr. Daly emphasised that even if administrative measures are adopted as an alternative, the current bill remains uncomprehensive, as it lacks provisions on issues like custody and financial support, which may lead to further legal challenges.
