(English) Reuters: Hong Kong moves towards enacting tougher security law amid concerns about freedoms

(English) As the public consultation for enacting domestic legislation pursuant to Article 23 of the Basic Law ends today, our Principal Mr Mark Daly was interviewed by Reuters to comment on the proposed harsher penalties for offences related to sedition. Mr Daly reiterated that UN Human Rights Experts have recommended to repeal offences related to sedition, and stressed that such offences should not be used to curb freedom of expression and dissenting opinion.
